When I was a freshman in college, I was able to withstand powerwalks in subzero temps and no coat. Today, I am unable to powerwalk and when the temperature guage in my truck shows below 60, I wrap up in layers and wool. After pre-marital counseling, Chaplain Raymo asked Erik and me if we had any reservations. He said no quickly; I reminded him that my left toes may never move. He still said no. Then I agreed. I talk to people every day, who are taking care of a spouse, refusing to give them up to nursing homes. In sickness and in health. I asked one woman if she and her husband had any nursing home plans. "Oh no," she said. "As long as he needs, I will take care of him." That's why, among many reasons, I'm marrying this man. He's got my back. He makes me laugh. If anything ever happened to me, he'd help me put on my socks. And when I'm with him, I'm not afraid of brain tumor regrowth. Today was fuzzy slipper day at The Scooter Store. I donned the most fluffy, white slippers I'd ever seen and one of our coworkers greeted us with, "Hello, you almost-Newlyweds! Are those supposed to keep you from getting cold feet?" Erik looked down at me. "You're never taking those off." December 15, 2003 20:34PM
My nails need a fill. Andes Mints taste like Christmas. Dark chocolate and spinach kill cancer. Red poinsettias are better. My baby brother is coming to see me in 11 measly days. And in 19 measly days, I will be an old, married woman. "It might not be perfect. The wedding could be a total disaster, and you'll still be married to him for the rest of your life." -Tanya's words of wisdom God willing. December 08, 2003 10:00AM
